Puppy Vaccination & Deworming: What to Expect
· 4 min read

A plain-language overview of the first-year health plan to discuss with your vet.
Vaccines protect puppies from serious diseases including parvovirus, distemper and rabies. Rabies is still present in Nepal, so vaccination protects your family as well as your dog.
A typical plan
- A combined vaccine series usually starts at around 6 to 8 weeks, with boosters a few weeks apart.
- Rabies vaccine is normally given at around 3 months.
- Boosters are repeated yearly, or as your vet advises.
- Deworming begins in the first weeks of life and is repeated regularly through the first year.
Exact timing depends on the vaccine brand, your puppy's age and health, so follow the schedule written in your vaccination card.
After a vaccine
Mild sleepiness for a day is common. Swelling of the face, repeated vomiting or difficulty breathing is an emergency and needs a vet immediately.
