Monsoon Tick & Flea Care for Dogs in Nepal
· 5 min read

Warm, wet months are peak tick season. A simple routine protects your dog from itching and tick fever.
Ticks are present all year in Nepal, but numbers climb with the heat and humidity of the monsoon. Besides irritation, ticks can pass on blood infections commonly called tick fever, which can make dogs seriously ill.
A weekly routine
- Run your fingers through the coat after every walk. Check ears, between toes, under the collar and in the armpits.
- Use a spot-on, collar, spray or chewable as directed, matched to your dog's weight.
- Wash bedding weekly in hot water and dry it in the sun.
- Keep grass short in the garden and treat kennels and cracks where ticks hide.
Removing a tick
Use a tick remover or fine tweezers. Grip close to the skin and pull steadily without twisting or squeezing the body. Clean the area afterwards. Do not burn ticks or cover them in oil.
Warning signs
Fever, tiredness, pale gums, loss of appetite or dark urine after tick exposure need a vet visit the same day. Tick fever is treatable when caught early.
